Windows 10 Cumulative Update KB4571756

Microsoft has released new Windows 10 cumulative updates as part of the September 2020 Patch Tuesday, and obviously, version 2004 is getting its own pack of improvements too.

Since this is a Patch Tuesday release, Windows 10 cumulative update KB4571756 is mostly focused on security improvements, and there are four notable changes this time.

First and foremost, this cumulative update increases the OS build number to 19041.508, so this is the version you should see when typing “winver” in the Start menu.

The update comes with improved security when using input devices like a mouse, a keyboard, or a pen, but also when Windows performs basic operations, according to a rather vague description that the company published on the official KB page.

What’s more, there’s improved security when working with the Microsoft Office productivity suite and for storing and managing files.

There’s one critical fix for user proxies and HTTP-based intranet servers. Microsoft explains the following in the official release notes of this update.

Users are recommended to install the update as soon as possible, especially given the security improvements that are included.
